Walks Around You

Marbury - Anderton Country Parks - Anderton Boat Lift Walk

WalkExplorer

Start at Marbury Country Park with its wildlife and wildfowl and if you wish, you can wander around a little, before enjoying the rest of this interesting and varied walk.

After the park, you wander through some beautiful woods with an exceptional variety of birds until you reach the banks of the canal, which you follow for a while. If lunch is on your mind, or simply a drink to quench your thirst, then when you reach Anderton, cross the bridge to the Stanley Arms. I can recommend both food and drink, personally! If by the time you read and take on this walk, I hope the boat lift has re-opened so you can have the unique experience of taking the trip from the visitor centre and riding the first of the boatlifts ever to be built in Europe.
