Marshfield - Cold Ashton - Marshfield Walk

WalkExplorer

Marshfield is a small market town at the southern end of the Cotswolds to the north of Bath with a typical medieval market town layout. The High Street consists of 17th and 18th century houses, all of which contribute to its historic character. The town is well known for its organic ice cream made on a working farm close by.
After following the main thoroughfare through the town, most of the walk is alongside small streams, as they wind their way along the bottom of three separate valleys. The first of these valleys leads to Cold Ashton, a small but attractive village lying at the top of the hill overlooking the valley. The walk then descends back down again, now following the Limestone Link, which is a 36 mile route beginning at Cold Ashton, and linking the Cotswolds to the Mendips.
Finally, the walk enters the third valley, known as St Catherine's valley, which is very steeply sided, that must be climbed before heading across fields back to Marshfield.
