Amesbury - Stonehenge Walk

WalkExplorer

This is a wonderfully atmospheric walk that treads in the footsteps of our ancient forefathers. From Amesbury it visits the mysterious Old and New King Barrows and the largest prehistoric monument in the area, The Cursus. Although there are good views of Stonehenge along the route, the site itself is easily accessible by making a short detour. The beautiful downland area is owned and protected by the National Trust, although Stonehenge itself is managed by English Heritage. The last part of the walk back to Amesbury uses one of a number of permitted paths in the area and completes a very enjoyable experience.

The instructions have been amended to avoid the section on the A road referred to in the comment and shown on the map.
