Dunsop Bridge and Kitcham Hill Walk

WalkExplorer

This is only a short walk but the final section is 1km of rough ground with no paths and deep vegetation, which will slow the walker down; this section has to be repeated for the return. It is access land high above Dunsop Bridge and the summit is a heathery rise with a pinewood, which I had long wanted to visit. Despite the effort I found it worthwhile because in good weather it is a charming spot and has good views of Longridge Fell, Pendle, Fountains Fell and Pen-y-Ghent. The walk is linear because I gave up after spending the afternoon struggling to find a different way off to make a circular one. The terrain proved too demanding to be enjoyable, the kind of thing you would tackle only if you were a follower of Bonnie Prince Charlie or Fidel Castro.
