Setley - Beaulieu Heath - Setley Walk

This delightful New Forest walk starts from the Filly Inn at Setley. It is mainly flat, taking you through Roydon Woods Nature Reserve, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This contains a wonderful patchwork of habitats which support wildlife typical of the New Forest, but without the pressures of grazing. Crossing the Lymington River you will leave the nature reserve and then walk along Beaulieu Heath, where New Forest ponies roam freely. You will pass by the 900-year-old church at Boldre, another New Forest gem. Then the route takes you back through the nature reserve to the Filly Inn. Here you can be assured that all the family will receive a warm welcome and you can even have breakfast here before starting your walk!
Please remember that the New Forest can always be wet and boggy in places, so waterproof footwear is essential.
Those walking with dogs may find it useful to know that there are no stiles and that my dog, a fit, slim Labrador managed all of the gates with ease and really enjoyed the walk.
