Port Sunlight Walk

WalkExplorer

Port Sunlight is a garden village which was founded in 1888 by William Hesketh Lever (of Lever Brothers fame and later to become Lord Leverhulme) to house his soap factory workers. He took great pleasure in helping to plan this picturesque garden village and he employed nearly thirty different architects to create its unique style. He named it after his company's flagship product 'Sunlight Soap'.

This walk starts at the railway station and meanders around the village, taking in all the points of interest and most of the varied architectural styles.

A leaflet showing a much shorter version of this walk is available from the Heritage Centre, currently located at Waymark 2, but soon to move to the Lady Lever Art Gallery at Waymark 12.

This is an excellent dog walk, though please respect the residents by keeping your dog on a lead and cleaning up after it.
