Grassington - the Lead Mines Walk Walk

WalkExplorer

Grassington was the lead mining capital of the Dales up to the end of the 19th Century and hundreds of acres of the fells to the north are covered with remains. This walk only touches the fringes of this area, but is enough to give a taste of the intense industrial activity that characterised what is now a tourist area. If you do explore further, remember that many of the mines are uncapped and unrecorded. The walk joins a signposted route where information boards describe the buildings and remains.
