Walks Around You

Belton Park, Grantham Walk

The walk is not strenuous or difficult to follow, in fact I would recommend letting the children do the navigating. You will find it very quiet, since most families stay within the area of the formal gardens. There are plenty of birds to look for at the right season and time of day (kingfishers, tree creepers, herons jays, woodpeckers, grebes and cormorants plus songbirds.) You would be unlucky, though, not to see the large herd of fallow deer at any time. There are three species of bats in the park and it is quite easy to see the Noctule bat on warm summer evenings (remember those?)
